Red Buds In Spring Light

Weird Bark

Weird Bark. I saw this bark and thought it looked quite unusal. Parts of this small tree have thick pieces of bark while the rest of the tree is pretty much thin. I took this picture because of the lovely curve that the bark makes, creating a sense of movement. April 2011

Budding Japanese Maple Tree

Budding Japanese Maple Tree. I saw these interesting little buds growing and thought they belonged to a flowering tree. Their bud's colors are almost a dark pink to red but instead I have discovered -as they grow a little more each day- that this is a Japanese Maple Tree. A refreshing additon to the garden especially after a long terrible white winter. Wonderful to see the various colors nature displays during Spring. Species name: Acer Palmatum. April 2011

Ladylike Tree

Ladylike Tree. If you look at this tree long enough, you will notice the similarities to a woman's body. I see the hip, curves and arms. I can not help but think that this is a sensual tree connecting her energy to that of the universe. April 2011

Jane Magnolia Maze

Jane Magnolia Maze. These pink magnolias can be seen all over Long Island. I love the way they create a maze of branches and flowers. April 2011

Blooming Magnolias

Blooming Magnolias. A very old but beautiful tree in my neighborhood is beginning to bloom after one of the most terrible winters in the northeast. Lovely pink magnolias are opening slowly and having certainly caught the attention of this amateur photographer. April 2011.

Pink Magnolias

Pink Magnolias. I just discovered that pink magnolias grow here in the northeast. There is a very old magnolia tree in the community where I live. Apparently, the pink magnolia tree has been preserved, as new construction has taken place through the years. April 2011.

A Double Daffodil Sprouts

A Double Daffodil Sprouts. It's been raining in these parts lately. Rain is just what we needed to wash all the snow away and help awaken the soil from sleep. The garden is looking greener and it's sprouts are signs of Spring's new hope. March 2011

Trumpet Daffodil Swirls

Trumpet Daffodil Swirls. It's amazing how much detail you can see in this daffodil flower, from up close. It has various shades of white and yellow plus green tones in it's center. March 2011.

Double Daffodil Bud

Double Daffodil Bud. Eager for Spring to arrive and wondering when this double daffodil bud will finish blooming. It has been a late and slow start to our Spring. March 2011.

Trumpet Daffodil: First Spring Bloom

Trumpet Daffodil: First Spring Bloom. After a plague of terrible northern snow storms this Winter, it is a wonder to see the coming of Spring with this first trumpet daffodil bloom. A symbol of hope for a new season of life. Long Island, NY. March 2011.
